Aloha Friends! This Friday, September 16 from 5-6:30PM, we are having an informal pau hana meeting at 3029 Lowrey Ave. H-3216 to fill out our prospective community and give you an update on the Pumahana site. This satisfies one of the two meeting requirements before joining our group. Membership does have its privileges, as they say — Hui members will receive a discount on the unit purchase price (amount still TBD) and will have a substantial say in the site design. Hello, there will be a follow-up meeting for further information and discussion about the 624 Pumehana St. project at ING Cafe (map) on Saturday, August 27 2011 from 10:30AM to 12:30PM. Following the meeting we will walk over to the site. Agenda for the meeting will be posted soon, so check back!

Honolulu Housing Hui will be holding a open house on Sunday, August 14th at Topa Tower to introduce ourselves and our design for 624 Pumehana St. to potential new community members (that’s you!) You bring your family and an open mind, and we’ll tell you more about our vision for family-oriented housing in Honolulu. We’ll introduce you to our Maui-based developer G.C. Pacific and our architectural “Sandbox” team of DeForest Architects, Schemata Design and Honolulu-based Collaborative Studio.

G.C. Pacific and Sandbox have already gotten started on conceptual design and other nuts and bolts aspects of the site. Some sketches are shown in this post, and we hope to fill in more details at our recruitment event. We’re hopeful that you’ll find our vision for a place families can live and grow together in Hawai‘i’s natural beauty a compelling one, and you’ll choose to join us. A preliminary fact sheet about the Pumehana site can be found here.

After several years of searching, our team has selected 624 Pumehana St. where we will build our community. This is an urban site with a fantastic location — walk to beaches parks shopping, restaurants, you name it. Our architectural team of DeForest Architects, Schemata Workshop and Collaborative Studio and developer G.C. Pacific have started on an initial site layout and development schedule. Stay tuned!
